Dinosaurs, Trolls and Dunderheads. Childrens book illustration by David Roberts

An exhibition of original 'roughs' and illustrations detailing how award winning children's book illustrator, David Roberts, moves his initial ideas into designs and finally into well loved characters.

He has illustrated works by some fantastic authors such as Philip Ardagh, Daren King, Julia Donaldson, Jacqueline Wilson, Tom Baker and Chris Priestley.

His most recent works include ‘Iggy Peck, Architect’ by Andrea Beaty, ‘The Troll’ by Julia Donaldson and ‘The Dunderheads’ by Paul Fleischman, which was shortlisted for the 2010 Kate Greenaway Award. David is also the creator of the ‘Dirty Bertie’ character about a little boy with bad habits such as picking his nose and trumping loudly!

In collaboration with A Squash and a Squeeze: Sharing Stories with Julia Donaldson at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, 28 June - 9 November 2014.
