Sophie Ryder
Ryder’s work draws on human, animal and mythological forms. She frequently melds the attitudes and instincts of each to create a series of hybrids, and has developed a narrative around the Lady-Hare – a creature of her own invention with a hare’s head and a female body modelled on her own. Through this character, and her relationships, the artist examines her emotions and the human condition. Ryder also focuses in great detail on the human body, rendering hands, eyes and feet in wire on a huge scale with the precision and delicacy of a pencil drawing.
In partnership with Osborne Samuel Gallery, London.
