Games in the Park - The Exhibition
An exhibition including an amazing, live photographic reconstruction of Bruegel’s Children’s Games as well as a 21st century artists’ response to this 16th century painting. This painting captures street games in Gay Lane by Bradford born artist Richard Eurich. Also included: are photographs of people at play; outdoor events taking place across the region and a newly created electronic, mixed media game by Joe Brook. The outdoor programme for Games in the Park involves games leaders, dancers, drummers and story tellers taking place in different locations in Bradford, Beverley, Harewood House, Leeds, Hull and Hutton le Hole in Ryedale from May to August 2012. New Worlds, part of the imove programme, is a partnership between Alchemy, Bradford’s Department of Regeneration and Culture, Harewood House, National Centre for Early Music National Media Museum and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. imove celebrates and challenges the relationship between people and their moving bodies through a series of exciting and innovative arts projects across Yorkshire. Inspired by London 2012, imove is funded by Legacy Trust UK and Arts Council, England.
Join us to enjoy awe-inspiring displays of free running and wheelchair rugby, amazing performances by the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and dazzling skipping demonstrations; alongside games old and new. Games in the Park is both a dramatic spectacle and exciting participation.
