Golden Threads

Young Curators in Bradford have been exploring Bradford’s rich collection of textiles from all over the world. Golden Threads is the result: an exhibition that makes links between historical and modern Bradford. In the words of the Bradford Young Curators, ‘through the objects we have come together to share knowledge and experience, to inspire with stories of Bradford people and to showcase our re-interpretation of Bradford’s pioneering art, industry and unique collections.’

The exhibition will include objects discovered in museum stores, special events and projects with artists, musicians and performers. It will feature ten waistcoats made by the Young Textile Group from 100 metres of new worsted cloth woven at Bradford Industrial Museum, as well as other new commissions. Textile-making demonstrations and other supporting events will take place during the summer. Stories of the World is an exciting series of exhibitions and events bringing together over 60 museums across the country. 2,000 young people have explored the museums’ collections and helped develop and shape the exhibitions and their presentation, bringing fresh new approaches and insights. The project is led by Arts Council England in partnership with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
