Arab Weaver Workshop

Museum’s Learning Team led workshop introducing Islamic architecture and culture. The sessions include discussion, object handling and practical work. See the My Leanring website.

Take 2 Portraits
KS1 or KS2
This session compares the historic portrait of The Brown Boy by Joshua Reynolds with a contemporary portrait of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. The whole class will then have the opportunity to dressing up and learn how to draw a portrait of each other. Museum’s Learning Team led workshop

What is Sculpture
For Key Stages 1 and 2
Using the sculpture in the gallery and Lister Park children will compare and contrast as well as think about how sculpture is made before creating their own 3D piece.

Cliffe Castle Museum workshop on tour: Ancient Egyptian Mummification
KS2 History
A hands on way to find out how the Ancient Egyptians prepared their dead for the Afterlife as pupils take part in a step by step mummification ceremony. The session includes an opportunity for children to handle real burial objects from Ancient Egypt, and to look at artworks detailing life in Ancient Egypt.
1 hour museum Staff led workshop.
