Cartwright Hall Art Gallery Connect: People, Place Imagination.

This exciting project, which will completely re-display the top floor galleries at Cartwright Hall is now underway. It is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Arts Council, Yorkshire, Yorkshire Renaissance, The Wolfson/DCMS Fund, The Gulbenkian Foundation, The Idelwild Trust, The Friends of Bradford Museums and Bradford MDC.

The main works will begin in January 2008 and as a result the top floor is now closed until July 2008. Cartwright Hall will remain open during this period and will continue to display a wide range of temporary exhibitions.

My World My Things: Fashion & Film 7 June - 31 August 2008, Bradford 1 Gallery. A selection of Bradford based young people were selected to participate in a series of filmed shopping trips. They purchased two identical outfits one to be wear, the other becoming part of this exhibition.

Peter Randall-Page Until 14 September 2008. Cartwright Hall. 'Geometry is the theme on which nature plays her infinite variations'. Peter Randall-Page’s practice is informed and inspired by the study of organic form and its subjective impact on our emotions.

Chinese Printmaking Today at Cartwright Hall

Hibrida III – Eurografik: Contemporary Prints from Poland and Britain 12 April - 20 July 2008. Cartwright Hall. A biennial focus on new visual languages in print practices, the Hibrida series aims to build on Bradford and Cartwright Hall’s distinguished history as a centre for outstanding research and print exhibitions.

Florilegium Flowers in Art 26 April - 27 July 2008. Cartwright Hall. Latin for a collection of choice blooms, Florilegium, is a colourful bouquet of works from the permanent collections echoing the vibrancy of the Lister Park flowerbeds.

Chinese Printmaking Today: Woodblock printing in China 1980-2000 21 June - 21 September 2008, Cartwright Hall. Continuities and innovations in the medium of woodblock printmaking, which has played a seminal role in the development of 20th century art in China.

Don Crabtree 8th June - 1 September 2008. Bradford Industrial Museum. Don’s exhibition is a collection of his favourite work, both photography and painting. There are industrial themes and natural history themes.

Puzzles and Illusions 28 June - 6 September 2008, Bradford Industrial Museum. An exhibition of puzzles and illusions give visitors an insight into how their brain works. Amazing hands on activities include the Tower of Hanoi, Cafe Wall Illusion and the Hollow Mask. Part of Summer of Science.

Learning Journeys with National Endowment for Science Technology and Art 28 June - 28 September 2008, Bradford Industrial Museum. This exhibition looks the work of a group of 30 local children who have collaborated closely with the museum, alongside scientists, artists and animators over the last 3 years to create fantastic inventions, designs and animations.

Keighley Stories From March 15 2008. Cliffe Castle. Visitors to Cliffe Castle can now see the newly completed Keighley Stories gallery and Breakfast Room. Telling the stories of Keighley and its people, the two displays are filled with exciting objects from the towns past.

Good Start 08 6th May - 6th July 2008, Cliffe Castle. Fabulous art from the Aire Valley’s Sixth Forms. We present another wonderful opportunity to view some of the most varied and inspired works from the Aire Valleys up and coming artistic talent.

What fort? Exhibition about Roman Ilkley 12 July - 12 September 2008, Manor House. Discover what evidence there is about the Roman Fort of Olicana, the very origins of the present day town of Ilkley. There may not be much of the fort left, but there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. Exhibition exploring the evidence for life in Roman Ilkley with full programme of public events and workshops.

On a clear day – Landscape photographs by Beverley Middleton 1 April - 31 August 2008. Bracken Hall. A love of the outdoors, walking and world travel has inspired much of the photography by Leeds born photographer Beverley Middleton. On a Clear Day is a study of panoramic views; each photograph is made from a series of digital images, between 4 to 14 single shots which have been “stitched” together in the computer to make one long vista.
