Well Hung - Digital Artworks by Kenneth Hung

At just 26, Kenneth Hung has created some of the most savagely funny protest art of recent times. Already internationally renowned for his media artworks, including the website www.111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111.com (that's sixty ones), his work has already been recognised at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Viper in Basel, Experimenta Centre in Melbourne and scores of other Media arts festivals and centres worldwide.

In this, Hung's first gallery exhibition, he has produced 11 unique inkjet prints, some derived from his web work, some just for the exhibition. The largest of these works is a 4.5m tall freestanding cutout of an Arial Sharon-faced Optimus Prime (transformer toy) challenging a similarly gargantuan 'GodzillArafat'. Accompanying these large works is a selection of his downloadable agitprop posters, his own 'cabinet of curiosities' of objects and images which have contributed to his montage works, plus dedicated computers from which visitors can browse his online work.

The exhibition is curated by Steve Manthorp, his first curatorial project since 'The Mathematics, Art and Science of M C Escher'.

Kenneth Hung was born in Hong Kong and lives in San Francisco. He has exhibited and conducted digital and live arts projects in many countries, and has won awards and recognition at Viper Festival, Basel, Ars Electronica, Linz and Netwave, Melbourne. His current online project, the Global Presidential Election, can be found at http://www.globalelection.org This is his first solo gallery exhibition.
